Week 9

Not too much to report on lately, just been doing some school work, and a bunch of time in the studio. Been working on welding a copper man, he's about 2 feet tall.

Here's my latest photography project. It corresponds with my sculpture, and the process of making the man.

Yesterday I went on a hike up to Mount Tambourine. Also a wise man once told me that you can never pass up an opportunity to swim in a river or waterfall, so I had to go in.

Going to New Zealand later this week, hope to have much more content in the coming weeks.

Melbourne

Week 7
Hey there, yet again I'm writing this post from the airport. Spent this weekend in Melbourne, which is on the south coast of AU, about a 2 hour flight. Couple of friends and I went down here for a few days to check out the scene and get away to a new place. Going to make this post “short” and stimulate you with a lot of photos, I could go into depth about everything we did, but you can can see from the photos.

Day One:
Got into Mel early by myself, I took a 4 hour tour of the city through the hostel. This took me all around the city and gave me an idea of what to do with my friends. Friends were tired when they got in, so they just went to bed... Not the same for me. I went out with one of my new tour mates to a couple of rooftop bars, these were really cool because I got to meet some of the locals.

Day 2:
On Friday we went to the Mel Aquarium and walked around the city, taking my friends on a modified tour of the day before. Pretty much just wandered through the city enjoying the free museums and such.

(Lucus, David, Sammie, Me, and Mario)

Day 3:
On Saturday we walked to the Zoo and around the Mel colleges. Later that day I had the idea to watch an AFL game (Australian Football). This stadium was huge! It sat 110,000 people and was a massive circle.

Day 4:
We headed off bright and early for a tour of the southern coast, stoping along the way at beaches and visiting the 12 Apostles. I took my first helicopter ride to get a better view of them! This was a great idea and got some good photos from it. Later that night we hit up the Crown Casino, were I gambled for the first time ever. I took my beginners luck to the roulette table and turned 20 dollars into 150, not bad for a rookie.

Day 5:
Today we had no plans, checked out of the hostel and got some food and chilled. I shot some photos for my next photography assignment. This ally was full of street art and thought it would be a fun place to work in. Once the photos are edited I will post them.

Pronunciation of the Day: “Melbourne” is shortened by the Stralians' to “Mel-bin”, like Cairns, if you say the full name you are labeled a tourist.

As aways,
Thanks for reading!
